24th North Bay Plein Air Paintout - CALISTOGA - Sunday March 27, 12:30pm - 4:00pm

The votes are in.... and we will be painting at the Castello di Amorosa (CASTLE) in Calistoga.

Directions
FROM SAN FRANCISCO/MARIN: Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and follow US-101 N (approx. 49 miles).Take the exit toward River Road/Guerneville. Turn right on Mark West Springs Road. Mark West Springs Road becomes Porter Creek Rd. Turn left onto Petrified Forest Road. Turn Right onto Foothill Blvd./CA-128. Go toward Calistoga/CA-29. Turn right onto CA-29. Proceed down CA-29 approximately 2 miles. Watch for Maple Ave. Slow down when you see Maple Ave. Watch for the driveway to 4045 (Castello di Amorosa) on your right. It comes up quickly after a curve just after Maple Ave. Turn right and come up the driveway to the Castle.

Heavy rain, hail and winds possibly in our forecast. So we have decided to paint at St. Vincent's Church in San Rafael. The group painted here back in May 2009 and in January 2010. If it begins to rain, there are plenty of covered hallways along the side and back of the Church.

Directions
The location is very easy to get to, it's just off Hwy 101. Exit St. Vincent Drive and follow the road into the parking lot of the Church. Click here for Google map and get directions.

22nd NBPA Plein Air Paintout - Results

Although it rained all morning, we got a break just in time for our paintout at the Marin Art & Garden Center. There was plenty of shelter underneath the corridors, though it was still pretty cold for some of us.

Church services took place at the building below.

It made a great subject for 2 of our painters to paint.
To the left you'll find the Pratum Children's Library.

Gerald had the chance to meet the library owner Todd Pratum and spent some time inside browsing through some of their art books before they closed. Such a warm and welcoming place :)

Check out all those books from floor to ceiling! And you'll find numerous knick-knacks along the window display and front counter. While there, Gerald also had a chance to meet another local painter named Josie. Maybe we'll have a new painter join us for a future paintout?

Just in case it stared raining again, this gazebo became another option for shelter. For now Hung decided to paint it.
