Point Molate, Richmond CA

Miniature painting from Pt. Molate, Richmond Ca. These houses are currently fenced off...I'm hoping they restore them, they have so much character. The rumor is this former Naval Fuel Depot might become a Casino?!

9th North Bay Plein Air - Results

This was more like a quick draw for most of us. The clear weather granted us just about an hour to paint in Japantown. The clouds began to roll in, which happened to be our que to head over the Thomas Reynolds Gallery. Just minutes after we entered the gallery, it began to rain.

To see all the pastel, oil and gouache gallery paintings were just amazing and inspirational. I highly recommend visiting the Gallery, Thomas was a great host and is very knowledgeable of all the artists and paintings. Great suggestion Janice, thanks Sergio for setting up the gallery visit, and thanks to all the artists that were able to make it out.

9th North Bay Plein Air Session

Thanks for your patience smile Because it was raining last week we have been working hard for an indoor plan. Sergio has spoken to the Thomas Reynolds Gallery in San Francisco and they have graciously allowed our group to visit between 3:00pm - 4:30pm. The Gallery is usually closed on Sundays, so this will be a great opportunity to have the place to ourselves. Bring a sketchbook or just hang out and admire the inspirational plein air paintings.
Now that clear skies are in the forecast, we will paint before the Gallery visit....at Japan Town (corner of Buchanan and Post St), 1:00pm - 2:30pm. Note: Feel free to arrive earlier if you need more time to set up and paint. Gerald will definitely be there by 1:00pm.
Exhibit Details: CA Art Club show on Pine Street "Treasures of the East Bay: Paintings by Local Artists" A Centennial Exhibition of the California Art Club.

Hills of Hawaii: Win Hou

Artist: Win Hou

Last we painted with Win was a few months back at Sandy Beach, Vallejo. He's been back home in Taiwan but made a recent visit to the islands of Hawaii. Win was so kind to share some photos of his plein air painting during a sunset along the majestic hills.

"Counter Point" Gallery - Novato, CA

It’s urban sketching from 6000 ft :) Here’s the view as you come into SFO airport…ok ok, it’s not really plein air – yes, it’s from a photo…but hey – it looked just like that!

30×40 oil on canvas, with palette knife…this is part of what I’m submitting to a group show we’re doing at the office.

Here’s the deets on the IMD art show – which we’re calling “Counter Point”:
