31st NBPA Paintout - RING MOUNTAIN, Corte Madera, Sunday, October 23rd, 12:30pm-3:30pm

Ring Mountain Open Space Preserve

5300 Paradise Drive
Corte Madera, CA 94976

This location was recommended by one of our painters, Renny. There's parking along the sidewalks. But if that fills up, there's a dirt shoulders at the bottom of the hill (off main road of Paradise Drive - but you'll have to walk a little bit to get to the entrance of trail)
So walk up this hill towards the Blue trash can under the trees.

I only found 2 entrances. This one takes you closer to the top of the hill. The other entrance is around the corner of Paradise drive.... very flat entrance, I'm assuming is a much longer hike to get up on the hill.
Here's the entrance along Paradise Drive.

There's quite a few mountain bikers zipping down the trails. So make sure to set up off to the side.

Agenda
12:00pm - 12:30pm - We'll meet briefly at entrance to trail or feel free to start painting! Feel free to drive off and paint as well. Lot's of areas to explore!!!
12:30pm - 3:30pm - Let's Paint!
3:30 - 4:00pm - Meet back at entrance of trail. We will share our findings, techniques or just to chat (not a critique).

Limantour Beach, shore birds, and kelp
A little bit about Limantour Beach
A long, narrow spit of sand, bound between Drakes Bay and an estuary, is a bountiful wildlife area. Scores of shorebirds feed in the wetlands and along the beaches during the fall. Ducks abound in winter at old, freshwater stock ponds created during the peninsula's ranching era. Harbor seals are often seen bobbing offshore in the gentle waves or basking in the sun's warmth. Mother gray whales guide their calves along the shoreline during the spring. Dogs are allowed on a 1.8-meter (6-foot) leash on the southeast end of this beach. Dogs are not permitted to the northwest as this area is protected habitat for harbor seals and the endangered snowy plover.
